Things have been a little quiet lately around here, my apologies. I’ve been on Instagram lately and posted this after the horror of this year’s Bastille Day in Nice.

Thinking of happier times along the Promenade des Anglais... back in 2007, my husband and I celebrated our first year of married life by taking a honeymoon to Nice and the Côte d'Azur. It was two weeks of bliss. We rented an apartment steps away from the market at Cours Saleya, ate pasta, gelato, and socca with impunity, and attempted to walk it off by walking the length of the Promenade des Anglais... but we'd always stop well short of our goal to watch the sunset instead. There has been a lot to feel about this past year: loss, heartbreak, anger, despair. Paris. Orlando. Istanbul. Baton Rouge. Falcon Heights. Dallas. Nice. It's admittedly difficult to muster up the enthusiasm to post when there's so much going on in the world. Let's all endeavor to keep sharing, to build bridges instead of walls.
In that spirit, I still have one last bit to share from that seemingly never-ending string of Euro Trip reports (2014 seems so long ago now!), as well as a recap of good times in Austin and Tulum late last year. Might even bother to write a bit about this year’s travels….
